According to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bon (born 1969) – Linh’s mother, Linh suffers from multiple serious illnesses. The family brought Linh to Tan Hung District Medical Center (Long An Province) and Tam Nong District Medical Center, then transferred to Dong Thap General Hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors diagnosed Linh with congenital Down syndrome, mental retardation, mitral valve disease, acute respiratory failure, heart failure, acute myocarditis, pneumonia, and requires long-term treatment; otherwise, it could be life-threatening. After some treatment, though costly, the disease showed improvement, but the family ran out of funds and had to bring Linh home for care. Now, the disease’s sequelae have left Linh paralyzed in all four limbs and unable to walk; eating and daily activities require parental assistance.
In Linh’s simple home, the working group, including Mr. Pham Huu Hoan – Vice Chairman of the Journalists’ Association, Deputy Director of Co May Sa Dec Co., Ltd.; journalist Nguyen Minh Phu – Editor-in-Chief of Dong Thap Newspaper; and representatives of Hoa Binh Commune leaders, kindly inquired about Linh’s health and living conditions. The sincere encouragement from philanthropists and attention from local authorities gave the family more strength to continue treatment.
Besides 20 million VND from Co May Sa Dec, Linh also received 2.4 million VND from the “Compassion Bridge” fund of Dong Thap Newspaper, contributed by readers. This timely support helps him continue fighting the disease.
Previously, Linh’s family also faced a dilapidated and leaking house. Fortunately, through Red Cross chapters at all levels, Dong Thap Lottery One Member Company supported 50 million VND to build a Great Unity House, providing shelter for the family.
Mr. Pham Huu Hoan shared: "We hope this joint effort will partially ease difficulties and provide Linh with faith to recover soon. Co May Sa Dec always accompanies the community, especially less fortunate lives."
The program not only provides financial aid but also conveys a humanitarian message about the spirit of mutual support, calling for community sharing. Hopefully, with timely love and help, Linh will have more opportunities to overcome illness and look forward to a brighter future.
